6-Day Murchison Falls and Kidepo Valley Safari Itinerary: –

Day 1:  Kampala – Murchison Falls Travel Time +5hrs.

At 07:30 am, begin the panoramic drive north-west through the famous Luwero Triangle and, travel to Masindi via Ziwa Rhino Project. A visit to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking is a must, before proceeding to Murchison Falls National Park after lunch.

Overnight stay and dinner at Paraa Safari Lodge (luxury facility) or Murchison River Lodge (mid-range facility) or Red Chili Campsite (budget facility). Meal plan: lunch and dinner.

Day 2:  Murchison Falls National Park

After your cup of coffee, you will cross the Nile by ferry to the northern bank of the park. Your guide will help you spot Elephant, Lion, Cape buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, hartebeests, waterbucks, oribis, bushbucks, Bohor reedbucks, hyenas and if you are lucky, the leopard. Return to the hotel for breakfast and lunch.

After lunch, you will go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of Murchison Falls stopping just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. En-route, you will marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles, elephants, waterbucks and kobs, over this 17 km stretch.

This is also a zone of many bird species such as Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorants and the rare shoebill stork.

There, you will leave the boat and start your – quite heavy – hike to the top of the falls (for approx. 1 hour), to see where the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment, to plunge into a frothing pool of about 43m below. Your driver/guide will be waiting for you to bring you back to the lodge.

Day 3:  Murchison Falls – Kidepo Travel Time +7hrs

Start the panoramic drive northwards to Kidepo Valley National Park via Gulu – Lira, with lunch enroute. You will enjoy amazing sightseeing enroute which is a much reward through the countryside and village settings. The Park is a completely different world of vast plains, in spring view from every vantage point, with a lot of wildlife as you drive into it.

This day is dedicated for a game drive in the Narus Valley in search for the lions, Jackson hartebeests, buffaloes, giraffes, leopard and cheetah.

Kidepo Valley offers breathtaking open savannah which is surrounded by spectacular mountain landscape seen nowhere in Africa! Kidepo Valley National Park is Uganda’s second biggest national park and one of Africa’s finest wilderness areas.

Dinner and overnight stay at Apoka Safari Lodge (high-end), Ng’a Moru Camp (mid-range) or Apoka Rest Camp (budget facility). Meal plan breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 4:  Full Day Kidepo Tour

Get your early morning breakfast, as you catch the sun rising behind the mountain, before flooding the valley. You will then set off for the game drive to the ostrich farm, which is not any man-made occurrence, but given the massive number of these bird species one would compare it to that. Along the way you shall be able to view herds of elephants, cape buffaloes, giraffes, lions and then the Kanangorok hot springs, before your lunch at the lodge.

You will also have another evening game drive experience for wildlife and game viewing.

Dinner and overnight stay at Apoka Safari Lodge (high-end), Ng’a Moru Camp (mid-range) or Apoka Rest Camp (budget facility). Meal plan breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 5: Full Day Kidepo

Today, you are free to have a morning game drive and afternoon visit to the Ike & Karamojong Community at Karenga and Kapedo, to learn and share their lifestyle. Learn about their traditional living, way of life and if possible, engage in their day-to-day activities.

Dinner and overnight stay at Apoka Safari Lodge (high-end), Ng’a Moru Camp (mid-range) or Apoka Rest Camp (budget facility). Meal plan breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 6: Kidepo National Park – Kampala/Entebbe Out (Travel Time +10hrs)

After an early morning breakfast, you will return to Kampala or Entebbe with your lunch enroute. In case you have your flight in the late evening you will be dropped off to the airport or be dropped off to your hotel choice in Kampala or Entebbe. Meal plan breakfast & lunch.

Flying Option from Kidepo National Park:

You can fly from Kidepo Valley National Park to Entebbe at an additional fee, departing at 1500 and then arriving in Entebbe at 1630.
