The Albert Nile Murchison holds the heart of Murchison Falls National Park. The Albert Nile is found within the park – which is the country’s largest national park situated in the northwestern part of Uganda. The journey to Murchison Falls takes you around 5 to 6 hours from Kampala, the capital of Uganda, in about 305 km distance.

The Albert Nile Murchison is part of river Nile that bisects Murchison Falls National Park into two; the southern and the northern bank, before flowing into Lake Albert. The Nile has a bridge that connects both the northern and southern banks, where you can take up a ferry crossing in Murchison to and from the banks. This takes about 30 minutes at an interval of two hours per trip.

With the Albert Nile as a natural attraction, visitors can engage in different tourist activities while on thier vacation to Murchison Falls National Park. Such activities include sport fishing, game safari drives in Murchison Falls, boat cruise to the bottom of the falls, bird watching, sightseeing, canoeing, and sunbathing among others. The adventure surrounding the Albert Nile Murchison is the enormous sailing, which is a lifetime experience that offers a special opportunity to meet wild animals at a close distance. Such animals include the giant African elephants, buffaloes, and giraffes among others, as they take walks through the bushes. Semi-aquatic animals can also be seen while sailing on the Albert Nile, including hippos and Nile crocodiles.

The banks of the Albert Nile are a home for a variety of birdlife which make it the best spot for birders. Some of the bird species you can spot while here include, the rare shoebill stork, Goliath herons, Great Egrets, and the African fish eagles among others.

The famous Albert Nile and its surrounding harbors lovely luxurious accommodation facilities that offer comfortable nights, beautiful sceneries, sightseeing, and bird species. Such lodges were built up with woods not to look far different from the surrounding environment and they include Paraa Safari Lodge, Chobe Safari Lodge, and Baker’s Lodge among others.

In Uganda, other parks with abundant wildlife include the popular Queen Elizabeth National Park where guests go for a boat safari on Kazinga channel or search for the tree-climbing lions in Ishasha. Lake Mburo National Park is a compact gem of wildlife especially for guests who wish to see zebras, because the park is so close to Kampala and can be accessed within a 3-hours’ drive time.

It is not enough to do a wildlife safari in Uganda without visiting Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a mountain gorilla trekking safari, such a rare opportunity to have in Africa. Meeting the endangered species is so amazing.

In Rwanda, the neighboring safari destination, visitors can opt to visit Akagera National Park for a safari to Rwanda and see the Big Five, including rhinos, leopards, elephants, buffaloes and the lion.
