Pakuba Airfield is located in Nwoya District, in northwestern Uganda near Murchison Falls National Park. It serves both the park and the surrounding areas.

The airstrip is controlled by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority and is among one of the five upcountry airfields that are authorized to handle cross-border air traffic from member states of the East African Community. This is part of the efforts to promote regional tourism within the East African region.

Pakuba Airfield is located approximately 275 kilometers (171 mi) by air and 363 kilometers (225.5mi) by road north-west of Entebbe International Airport (EBB). This implies an approximately 1 hour and fifteen minutes flight and over 6-hour drive from Entebbe International Airport.

Pakuba Airfield serves Murchison Falls National Park as the major tourist attraction within the area, as well as the surrounding areas of the northern part of Uganda. The IATA code for Pakuba Airfield is PAF and ICAO: HUPA.

Flights to Pakuba Airfield, Murchison Falls National Park

AeroLink Uganda Limited is one of a domestic airlinea offering both scheduled and chartered flights to and from Pakuba Airfield and other parts of Uganda. From its base at Entebbe International Airport, AeroLink offers 3 scheduled flights to the Airfield every week, that is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. On other days, flights are available on request at the usual seat rate.

You can also opt to interconnect from Pakuba Airfield to other parts of Uganda and beyond the East African region on request.

Entebbe to Pakuba Airfield departs from 1200hrs and arrives at 1300hrs. Pakuba Airfield to Entebbe departs at 1315hrs and arrives at 1615hrs, however, time may vary depending on aircraft routing and weather conditions.     

Eagle Air is also among the domestic airlines offering both scheduled and chartered flights of limited routes. Visitors who opt to use Eagle Air to Pakuba Airfield should know that flights are available, but on request only.

Activities and facilities around the airfield

Pakuba Airfield is most used by visitors who visit Murchison Falls National Park since the airfield located within the Park in the Northern sector.

Pakuba plays a major role in the Albertine Graben region and as well as in Murchison Falls National Park. So, tourists who opt to use air transport to visit the park are welcome to the airfield all year around.

The airfield is surrounded by comfortable lodges that are perfect for you and your family. The lodges were built up with woods not so as to blend in with the surrounding natural environment and to induces the sense of adventure. Such lodges include Pakuba Safari Lodge, Paraa Safari Lodge, and Chobe Safari Lodge among others. 

Other airstrips in Uganda include Mweya Airstrip, giving access to Queen Elizabeth National Park. There is Kihihi Airstrip which helps visitors flying to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a gorilla trekking safari in Uganda. Apoka Airstrip is for Kidepo Valley National Park while Kisoro Airstrip serves Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and the southern parts of Bwindi and Kisoro.
