Murchison Giraffe Camp is a small and budget Ugandan-owned Eco-lodge that mainly focuses on the protection of the unique Murchison Falls National Park ecosystem. This simple and comfortable accommodation facility is only 1 kilometer from Mubako Gate, one of the entrances into Murchison Falls National Park thus making it very easy for guests to access the Park for its various activities (especially game drives and guided bush walks). Besides creating employment opportunities to the marginalized Ugandans and benefiting those who are the custodians of rich ecological heritage that visitors enjoy, seclusion and unforgettable experiences are provided.
Rooms and amenities at Murchison Giraffe Camp
Murchison Giraffe Camp rooms are in form of;
En-Suite Banda that allows guests to immerse themselves in the secluded wilderness while enjoying the comfort of a safe and cozy room, which features a private veranda. This unique Banda is fully-furnished with a mosquito-draped bed, private bathroom with clean towels, a reading table and chair, solar lighting, and an outdoor seating area for relaxing after a long day in the Park.
Guests who stay in the non ensuite Safari Tent are guaranteed of enjoying the tranquility of the verdant forest. The Tents are furnished with mosquito-draped twin beds, clean linen, solar lights, and others.
There is also a Campsite that is perfect for visitors who wish to enjoy up close and personal experience with the Wilderness. The Campsite is vast and can accommodate up to 100 Campers each night.
Things to do while staying at the Camp
Game drives are the most popular tourist activity enjoyed by Murchison Giraffe Camp guests, and involves exploring the jaw-dropping savannah grasslands in an open-roof safari vehicle. Here, giraffes, the elusive leopards, Cape buffaloes, African bush elephants, spotted hyenas, Jackson’s hartebeests, Uganda Kobs, and others are spotted.
Another Park activity you can enjoy while staying at Murchison Giraffe Camp is the boat cruise on the mighty Nile River until the bottom of the thunderous Murchison Falls. This adventure makes it possible to get up-close with Hippos and Nile crocodiles, as well as lots of elephants, buffaloes and birds that visit the banks of River Nile.
Guests can also enjoy the drive to the top of the falls to hear the thunderous sound of the Nile while it forcefully passes through a narrow gorge of 7 meters, before dropping and creating its signature rainbow sign on top.
There is also an opportunity to undertake guided nature walks where places not reachable by game drives can be explored, animals can be sighted with their trails/or even droppings, appreciate the beauty of Mother Nature and sight different plant species.
Birders will love Murchison Giraffe Camp and the National Park in general, owing to the numerous opportunities of sighting the beautiful feathered beauties.
The Lodge is capable of organizing bundles of activities within the park. These include safari game drives, boat cruises, sport fishing, hiking to the top of Murchison Falls, nature walks and chimpanzee tracking.
